This is probably a wierd contardiction about me. But although I take care in writing dialogue, I also stress improvising for each and every scene - time, budget, and camera set-ups permitting.
I think improvisation is essential to acting. If an actor cant do it..."Next!"

I'm hopefully shooting something at the end of January. The script is pretty much there so it just needs to go out to crew and artists. My producer works on Eastenders so the crew mostly work as ADs and stuff on that.
The script is mostly devoid of dialogue (as that is pretty much the only thing you can sell at the moment) about a girl getting some bad news about her healthand the ensuing panic. I know, sounds a bit shit, but I'll post the script in a few weeks for everyone to look at.

Is it a short? I could see a short without dialogue. You mind elaborating?
Kodak sent me a bunch of film that needs to be shot so I am working on two shorts. One, I am having translated into German right now and the other I will be going into to studio to have the VO recorded. They are just small things that will mostly be for filler on my reel. Shots I have never attempted kinda stuff.

I havent made more than 5 shorts, but non have been with special effects or similar.

for some reason most of my screenplays are very violent. I dont know where that comes from.
I just started with writing a comedy series of shorts. It will be ground breaking. But alas, it feauters a desillusioning teenager who thinks he's a hitman.
I shot shot a movie today and thought the script was very funny. I had to laugh a lot because it was so absurd. But many of my other friends thought it sucked. I had the lead (I can now say, I don't like acting). I have no clue whether it'll be funny or be lame. I've made a lot of movies which made people laugh a lot. But they really all suck. I think it letting others laugh as a lot to do with expectations. I know what kind of humour 'my' audience expects, so I can fuck it up bigtime. Makes'm laugh. Dialogue is never funny.
Oh, but I'm also going to start with a feature with has a lot of people killing themselves in it. Its a feel good movie really, and apart from that there is no SFX involved. [img]graemlins/party.gif[/img]
Sorry, yeah I meant short film. It seems that you can only really sell and get distribution for short films if they are pretty much dialogue-free. It helps to sell it worldwide if there is no language barrier. It's not the way I'd prefer to do things but to get it in the most festivals and get it seen that's the way to go unfortunately.
It's probably different in America, being much bigger than the UK, but there is not much of a market for shorts here.

It's quite an interesting excercise, using the constraint of documentary for narrative, especially since I am refraining from having a narrator tell you what's going on from scene to scene, but rather relying on interview and diarycam moments. But it's still a classical script - hook, character arc, love interest, laughing, crying, blah blah blah
Miker, hav you seen the sketch in Jam from Chris Morris about the Splurge(i think it's called that) affecting porno actors? Porno actors suddenly can't stop ejaculating and eventually die.
Very very funny, you should try and check it out if you havent seen it.
That's hilarious! I sometimes have that problem. I'm actually creating quite a mess as I type this. David Hasslehoff has that effect on me. Talk about testosterone and masculinity.
